Lisa Ashley’s 9th Annual MM&M Day
By lisaashley | May 23, 2017Come October, the 10th anniversary of my MM&M day approaches. I want to share what this inspiring tradition is all about. Thank you Brad Stanley for capturing the special moments of the event so beautifully.
MM&M day (self named) stands for mammograms, massages, and martinis. It’s the birthday party I throw for myself every year. I get a group of my breastfriends together and we all meet at my breast cancer awareness themed spa suite at the beautiful Four Seasons in Westlake. Lucky for us, The Four Seasons in Westlake has a Wellness and Imaging center on their grounds. They have become so incredibly supportive that they have even added the MM&M Day to their menu of services. My guest and the Spa are styled and decorated with pink and white in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness…the reason why we continue this tradition every year. There’s a certain comfort in having your girlfriends with you the day you get a mammogram. Whether the news be good or not so good…. With your girlfriends by your side, massages to relax you, and a martini/wine waiting for you as you walk out the x-ray room, it all seems to be less dreadful and feels like a party! Which btw… it is!
I like to celebrate my October birthday (which happens to be breast cancer awarenesd month) knowing I can help make breast cancer awareness fun and flirty. And not only do we party, but we donate! Money is donated to help find a cure.
My MM&M day has turned into a tradition that went from 2 of us to 36 and counting. A scary, uncomfortable situation is turned into a fun, spa day that my breastfriends look forward to every year.
